About

American Bald Eagle

American Bald Eagle

American Bald eagle has a blackish-brown back and breast. It has a white head, neck, and tail and yellow feet and beak.

The bald eagle can be found in North America. Bald eagles live along the coast and on major lakes and rivers.

It mainly eats fish but it is also known to eat birds and rodents.

The hook at the tip of the beak is used for tearing. Behind the hook, the edge of the beak is sharp enough to slice tough skin. A bald eagle's beak is a strong weapon, but is also delicate enough to groom a mate's feathers or feed a small portion of food to a newly hatched chick.

During breeding season, the male and female work together to build a nest of sticks, usually located at the top of a tree.

Once paired, bald eagles remain with each other until one mate dies, then the surviving bird will find another mate.
